As the health needs of Kauai have evolved, Malama Pono Health Services (MPHS) has answered the call, breaking down barriers to quality care, support and education for all and serving those in need since 1986. Our professional and compassionate team serves patients of all incomes, many of whom feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Lihue Health Clinic
Malama Pono’s STD/HIV testing & treatment services are 100% confidential and free, even if you don’t have insurance. Women’s wellness services are offered through insurance or on a sliding scale. Make a clinic appointment by calling (808) 246-9577, or by filling out the form below.
Health Services for Uninsured
Too many women, men, and teens on Kauai are facing urgent healthcare issues, and they don’t know where to turn. Malama Pono Health Services provides comprehensive and compassionate clinical care, support and education for those that need it most.
Free Condoms
Malama Pono Health Services offers free condoms and “Safer-Sex Kits” (condom & lube packs with directions) free to the community. These can be accessed in our clinics or from community-placed condom jars.
Mobile Health Van Clinic
Professional, Compassionate Staff
You deserve to be treated with compassion and dignity. Our team of nurses, nurse practitioners, caseworkers and educators are here for you. Turn to us.
Syringe Exchange & Narcan Education
Our Harm Reduction program provides a one-for-one syringe exchange to prevent transmission of HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and other blood-borne infections. We also provide free Narcan education & distribution.
Our Clinical Services
STD testing & treatment
We offer testing and treatment for STDs, such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc. All testing is confidential. Please bring a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, State ID, passport, etc.) to receive testing and treatment. Learn more.
HIV/Aids Testing
MPHS provides rapid HIV testing to anyone who needs it. Get your results in about 20 minutes. All testing is completely confidential and affordable (suggested donation of $10). - Annual well-woman exams (Pap smears or cervical screening)

Pre Exposure Prophylaxis

Monkeypox Vaccine
Monkeypox is a contagious disease caused by the monkeypox virus. There is currently an outbreak of monkeypox in the U.S. and other countries where the virus is not usually seen. The current monkeypox situation is evolving quickly and is subject to change. As vaccine supplies are limited, the Hawaii Department of Health has developed a strategy for vaccine allocation in Hawaii to protect those at increased risk of infection or severe disease.
